Timahoe To Trail
Hi All,
Is anybody familiar enough with GoogleEarth to be able to use the Ruler function to map out the road route from Timahoe to the trail location at Cullenagh.
We are looking at how feasible it it to cycle there from Athy, we can get to Timahoe in about 35 mins or so, but don't know roads around there to get to were trail is.
If someone could map the route out on google earth, and save the route out and send via email would be great.
We use google earth for mapping out all spins, as we can see the elevations and land mark points for areas we don't know to well.
We did a 50 Km spin on the mtb's over that way yesterday, from athy via clopook to timahoe to swan back to athy via wolfhill in 1hour and 50 mins
Many thanks.
Seamus

Re: Timahoe To Trail
The directions bit of google maps can do the routing and tell you the distance. I htink theres a option to transfer the route you've picked over to google earth
http://maps.google.com
THis website will do routing on roads as well as show you the elevation

Many thanks for the reply Oisin
That website will be useful in future
but what I'm really looking for is to find the road i should take to get to the location
of where the trail is, you can go around the south of the mountain to Ballyroan or
you can go around the North to Ballyroan.
But in around the mountain / forest area itself there is a warren of side roads, some looking at them on Google Earth just go into woodland to a truck turntable.
I saw someone mention that if you leave Ballyroan and head on the stradbally road
take a right at the first crossroads and follow the notices to the forest entrance.
I followed this road on GE but it forks off in different directions just if I'm heading
to their by bike from Athy, would like to know exactly which roads I'm supposed to be
taking before I leave.
Have you been on the trail in Cullenagh before ?
Many thanks

Best way from Athy ,take the Ballyroan/Abbeyleix road from Stradbally.
Aprox 5 Km on the left their is a sign for Rockview Walkways, take the next left after the sign . 600 mts their is a sharp bend to the left the entrance is on the right.
